Pre AP English I (Period 3)

Course Description

 Prepares intrinsically motivated, task oriented, proficient readers and disciplined writers for success in our high school’s Advanced Placement program. This course follows a rigorous pace and requires daily homework; all reading is done outside of class for in-class analysis. This course includes content immersion, a focus on in-depth analysis of rhetorical strategies, and performance assessed mainly at the analysis and synthesis levels. Literature read for analysis may include but not limited to the following: Fallen Angels, Romeo and Juliet, The Odyssey, Animal Farm, The Pearl, To Kill A Mockingbird, Bronx Masquerade, and Great Expectations. The course will include a summer reading list.
