English IV (Period 8)

Course Description

Chronological survey of political, religious, philosophical and literary movement in British literature from the Anglo-Saxons to the 20th century. Exposure to major authors, works, and themes, focusing on literary analysis. Emphasis on reading, writing, language usage, literary devices, and research skills. The research paper is a major component. Preparations are made for the world beyond high school. Major works include but not limited to Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales, Macbeth, Lone Survivor, and And Then There Were None.
