Theater Arts I (Period 3)

Course Description

Study of acting concepts and skills, theater production, appreciation of theater. Students will gain an understanding of the history of theater from its beginning to the current forms of today, including live performance, radio, television, and film. Students will explore the different genres of writing and production. Students will develop acting techniques, vocal skills and a comprehensive understanding of performance requirements. Students will increase their understanding of heritage and traditions through historical and cultural studies in theater, and become more appreciative and evaluative consumers of live theater, television, film, and other technologies. Students will design, construct, and demonstrate appropriate acting and technical elements of theater safely, both individually and collaboratively with other students.
