Howdy Caldwell ISD I'm Tracy Ayers District registered nurse for Caldwell ISD what do you for a little bit about flu season is right around the corner so what are some things you can do to prepare for flu season well first and foremost get a flu shot I know what people don't like getting shot to protect yourself and your loved ones from getting the flu most the time people don't get deathly ill from flu but it can happen and it does happen every year stations increase gas increase around flu so we need to do our part and do what we can to protect those we love so who can get the flu shot everybody everybody HC months and older can get a flu shot everybody else just be a shot for the season and they're really easy to get nowadays you can go to your local pharmacy your doctor's office or even your school that's right we have flu shots will off just talked to your school nurse about where you can get it and when you can get it from getting a flu shot what are some other things you can do to protect yourself and others from flu well number one guess it to washing your hands hand hygiene 20 seconds into the water with soap or use hand sanitizer is all over the place now also keep its distance from people if you're not feeling good so if you're feeling a little under the weather rate and also get some rest stay away from the other household members just in case you might have the flu still another way to help prevent really any kind of infection but fluid special is it cover your cough or sneeze don't do this it turns all over your hand that's where they cover your cough or sneeze is in your elbow if you can't do that sometimes I'll even do this you just want to cover the germs up so they don't go flying all over the place are people so speaking of coughing and sneezing on right now and yeah it's uncomfortable but what happens if you have to call first or the whole point of the is to protect those droplets from leaving right we don't want those falling out of here so if you need a cough or sneeze and you have your mask on leave it on still cough or sneeze in your elbow but with your mask on now that could get kind of gross right so if you saw oil your mask or let's say you get boogers in it just get a new math if you don't have one on hand and you're at school go to the office after office staff for your campus nurse they have plenty of extra disposable masks that they can get for you also remember every day we need to change out our masks so if you're wearing like a cough mask like I have to make sure you wash it in the washing machine or hand wash it in the sink Athens dope we want to have clean masks on her face and then if you have to blow your nose congestion it's just that time of the year in sanitizer so maybe you think you have the flu what are some of those symptoms well fever quick onset really quickly just don't feel good not over the course of a week but I feel fine you're sick right so high fever cough congestion sometimes we can have an upset tummy with it headache feeling fatigued really tired symptoms of flu 1919 C do you need to get a flu test werkhoven test or maybe you just need some rest call your doctor find out see what they say okay well that's it for today thanks for watching this segment of flu season tips stay safe stay well
